This is not a complete listing of warnings for the products shown on this page. For complete warning information, click on the product name to the left.

Straps & chain assemblies

WARNING: Never exceed working load limit. Load binding systems store energy which can release suddenly, causing serious injury. Stay clear of handle, bars and other binding equipment as it could release without warning and with extreme force. Remember, strap assemblies are only as strong as their weakest point, including the point of attachment.

For 2", 3" & 4" straps & chain assemblies: Observe the WLL as stated in catalog & on strap tag to determine the number of tie-down assemblies and/or hardware required for safe operation per federal DOT FMSCA 49 CFR Parts 392-393, and the CVSA inspection criteria.

NOTE: These items are not approved for overhead lifting.

SCC Cargobars™ & loadlocks

WARNING: Do not use bars to support any verticle loads. These products are not designed to be used as a shoring beam. Using these bars as a step is not advised and could result in serious personal injury. These products are not designed to secure a load in a trailer, but to assist in stability only. They are designed to push out approx. 1" against flexible van trailer walls and can be damaged if used against immovable objects such as door frames. To avoid damaging bars and locks, never use more than one hand to close the lever.

Loadbinders

WARNING: Never exceed working load limit. Load binding systems store energy which can release suddenly, causing serious injury. Stay clear of handle, bars and other binding equipment as it could release without warning and with extreme force. Use extreme caution when tensioning the binder on a chain assembly to assure the chain links are fully seated in the hook belly before releasing the pressure on the loadbinder. Always keep hands & fingers away from chain path and keep head and body out of the path of the binder handle in case of slippage or kickback. Extensions: Only use combination winch bars designed with a binder cradle to assit in tightening a load binder. Insure that the loadbinder handle is fully inserted into the winch bar cradle and locked in place. Failure to do so may cause the bar to slip and result in serious personal injury and/or loss of life. Loadbinders will tighten adequately with the torque generated by hand pullover or ratcheting. Never use pipe or unapproved extensions (cheater bars)

Winches & winch bars

Mount & position the winch so that the latch/pawl drops into the gear sprocket teeth by its own weight. For weld-on type winches, a continuous 1/4" fillet weld, 4" long on both sides of the winch frame with 1/8" min. penetration is required. (Use a filler compatible with ANSI 1015 steel.) Portable & slider winches must be positioned not to interfere with any other trailer components. Set screws on portable winches should be snug tightened only. Over tightening can cause the bracket to break or bend, resulting in possible failure and loss of tie-down. Portable winches must be removed from the trailer and stored when not in use. Load binding systems store energy which can release suddenly, causing serious injury. Stay clear of handles, bars and other binding equipment as it could release without warning and with extreme force. Use extreme caution when tensioning the winch/assembly to assure the latch/pawl is fully engaged in the gear sprocket teeth before releasing the pressure on the winch bar. Always keep hands and fingers away from the winch pawl and keep face, head and body out of the path of the winch bar.
