Tire Application Guide

Select the correct product for your tire sizeTire sizing diagram

The size of a tire is printed on the sidewall of every tire.
Most passenger tire sizes will look like this:

P205/70R14 or 205/70-14

In these examples the tire is 205 mm wide, has an aspect ratio of 70% and is mounted on a wheel that is 14 inches in diameter (1 inch equals 25.4 mm). The "R" in the size indicates that the tire is a radial, which is not important in finding the applications. This tire size will appear in SCC's application list as 205/70-14.

Begin by typing in your tire size. Leave off the "P" off if it is a P series tire and include "LT" if it is a LT series tire, then select the appropriate size from the list:

Although tire size must be known to select a traction product of correct fit for passenger cars, and small pickup owners it is also important to check the vehicle owner's manual for clearance restrictions. The restricted wheel well clearance in most of today's vehicles will require S.A.E. Class "S" products. SCC winter traction products that meet Class "S" clearances are Super Z6Super Z8, Shur Grip Z, Super Z LT, Z-Chain, Radial Chain, Whitestar Alloy and Quik Grip PL Chain. For detailed information on these products, please click on the product names listed above.

IMPORTANT: Tire chains should be fitted to the tires before actual use is required.
